The West-Indisch Huis, with its enclosed courtyard, is situated in the city centre of Amsterdam. The West-Indisch Huis owes its name to the period between 1623 and 1647, when the ‘Heren Negentien’ wielded the sceptre over the Dutch West-India Trading Company (West-Indische Compagnie) from here. In one of the rooms, the Compagnieszaal, the decision was made to build the fort ‘Nieuw Amsterdam’ on the island Manhattan.
Since 1991 is this one of the locations of ‘a matter of Taste’ catering. The four impressive and stylish rooms are the perfect place to organize an event for up to 850 persons and can easily be adapted to suit smaller groups for intimate dinner parties with a minimal of 30 guests. The West-Indisch House is the ideal location for a smashing party, stylish gala dinner or meeting.
