Atos Origin Rules

Atos Origin´s sailing team won the IT Sails 2007 sailing regatta and with that the IT Sails floating trophy. Decos Technology Group and Attachmate came in second and third, respectively. The IT Sails 2007 regatta took place in ideal weather on April 19, 2007. The race consisted of a training session led by sailing professionals, followed by three races on a course laid out by Team Heiner.

During the regatta teams from Atos Origin, Attachmate, Business Objects, Decos Technology Group, ISIT, Symantec and webMethods fought for the IT Sails floating trophy. The teams consisted of employees, customers and business relations of these companies. Led by experienced sea sailors of Team Heiner, they used Heiner´s high tech racing fleet.

The day started with a multimedia presentation by Tom Touber, Shore Operations Director at Team Heiner, about the IT and logistics around the sailing vessels ABN AMRO I and II during the Volvo Ocean Race 2005-2006. It became clear that people are the critical success factor in this 3-year multi million euro project. Inspired by the team work during the Volvo Ocean Race, the IT companies engaged in a sportive battle on the IJssel lake. Before the race, a short practical training on the water was held, followed by the match briefing.

Jolanda Prins of organizer Jibe! Events and Incentives said: ”This first edition of IT Sails was a resounding success. The different company teams were all very enthusiastic and committed. With a Wind Force of 5 on the IJssel lake, the competition was often fierce. A tradition in the IT world has been born!”
