Team Jibe! Relations takes over trophy from Atos Origin.

It is unbelievable but true, the Jibe! Relations team has won IT Sails 2008 and taken the trophy from previous owner Atos Origin. The trophy has found a new home with Beedirect, the company who delivered the team´s helmsman. Atos Origin and Intromediates/Altosoft came in second and third, respectively. 2008 IT Sails took place on October 2, once again on the IJssel lake and under the expert supervision of Team Heiner.

In spite of the strong wind teams from Atos Origin, Attachmate, Intromediates/Altosoft, NetApp, Symantc and  Jibe! Relations ventured out on the lake to battle for the floating trophy. After a warm welcome in the Team Heiner harbour, the teams were given a multimedia presentation about the Volvo Ocean Race. During this impressive and very interactive presentation the teams received the famous training “match sailing in 10 minutes”.

After the training it was time for a well-deserved lunch in the harbour, followed by a thorough briefing for the race. At 15.30 hours the regatta was launched. The unstable weather did not in the least harm the atmosphere and made the teams all the more fanatic and thus the race more exciting. After three thrilling races, everyone, including the team itself, was surprised to find team Jibe! Relations the winners of the day. The crew included people from Beedirect, NetApp, Attachmate and Jibe! Events & Incentives.

The turbulent day ended with a prize ceremony and drinks, during which many ´war stories´ were exchanged. Will Atos Origin be able to win back the trophy in the next edition of IT Sails or will another team take the helm? We´ll find out during IT Sails 2010!
