Tours in and around Amsterdam

Amsterdam is centrally located in the Netherlands, and there is a wealth of possibilities for day trips, half day trips and evening tours. Below you will find a small selection of the endless list of trips to take and things to do. Just let us know which time slots you have available, what kind of tours your group is interested in, and we can create a customized program for you.

  • Canal cruises: Because of the city’s many canals over the water is the ideal way of getting the feel of Amsterdam. Virtually every part of the city, and off course all the sites, can be reached by boat.
  • Countryside, Mills & Fishing Villages: see the picturesque fishing towns of Volendam and Marken. Have your picture taken in traditional local garb, visit a clog maker and see traditional Dutch windmills.
  • Delft, The Hague, Madurodam: Only about one hour away are the cities of The Hague and Delft. Visit Delft, the city from where the famous Delfts Blue Pottery originates. See how Dutch Royalty lives in The Hague, with a tour of the palaces and residences. For The Netherlands in a nutshell, literally, visit Madurodam.
  • Color Spectacle at the Keukenhof: Open for 2 months only, from March – May, the Keukenhof is the worlds largest flower garden, filled with tulips, hyacinths and daffodils.
  • Alkmaar Cheese Market: A world famous cheese market takes place in Alkmaar, a 30 minute drive from Amsterdam, every Friday from early April to early September. Here you can see how cheeses are weighed and the hagglers in their traditional garb.
  • Pampus Island: Shallow waters near Amsterdam, where a small artificial fort island in the IJsselmeer just outside of Amsterdam was built in the 19th century.
  • Enclosing Dikes: The Dutch polder landscape north of Amsterdam is marked by windmills, dikes (Enclosing Dike) and ditches and is unique in the world.
  • Edam Tour: The first city to export its round cheeses to all corners of the world. During the high season traditional cheese markets still take place. Edam is a town with a great history, monumental buildings, and beautiful squares.
  • Haarlem: The city of Haarlem was established in 1245 and is older than Amsterdam. In the past 800+ years not much has changed in the streets of Haarlem. Walking through Haarlem is like walking through history!
  • Defence line of Amsterdam: This 135 km (86 miles) long defence line was built between 1885 and 1914. It consists of 3 to 5 km wide inundations, thirty six forts, two coastal forts, two fortresses, three batteries and two coastal batteries. The Defence Line was inscribed to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1996 because of its value for all mankind.
